Recording Interfaces

Focusrite Clarett 8Pre 18x20 Thunderbolt Audio Interface

Focusrite Clarett 8Pre Audio Interface

Designed for the project studio that needs plenty of I/O, Focusrite's 18-in, 20-out Clarett 8Pre combines eight Clarett mic preamps with class-leading digital conversion, and extraordinarily low round-trip latency -- so low that you can use DAW plugins while monitoring a performance in real time.

High Dynamic Range Conversion

The Clarett 8Pre, like the rest of the Clarett range, includes class-leading precision Focusrite digital audio conversion with up to 118dB (A/D) / 119dB (D/A) dynamic range. Clarett offers the cleanest way yet to get music in and out of your DAW.

Low Latency Over Thunderbolt: Use DAW plugins in real time

Latency is the delay to a signal as it passes through your DAW system from interface input to interface output. Clarett Thunderbolt offers astonishingly low round-trip latency. Signals go round so fast that you can record and monitor through your DAW with reverb, compression, or other plug-ins for the best possible recording experience.

8 Clarett Mic Pres with Extra "Air"

Designed especially for the Clarett range, Clarett mic pres offers superbly low noise and distortion, plus the switchable "Air" effect that models the sound of Focusrite's renowned ISA transformer-based preamps. Instrument inputs offer extended headroom to suit the loudest guitar pickup, while gain controls employ a special law that makes changes smoother and more precise. Instrument inputs feature extra headroom to handle the loudest pickup.

Front-Panel Combi Inputs

For easy access even when rack mounted, the compact (1U) Clarett 8Pre includes combination mic/line/instrument inputs on the front panel. Also on the front panel are two independently-controlled headphone outputs with enough level to drive even high impedance headphones to provide suitable monitoring levels.

Front-Panel Metering and Monitoring

The metering and monitoring panel provides ten 6-segment LED meters covering analog and digital inputs and monitor levels, with a monitor level control knob plus mute and dim buttons

Dual high-power headphone outputs

Two wide dynamic range headphone outputs are provided, powerful enough to deliver plenty of level even on high impedance headphones - perfect for tracking and mixing.

Software Mixer for Detailed Routing and Monitoring Control

Focusrite Control, the software mixer that comes with the Clarett 8Pre, is easily configured for monitoring and routing setups. Focusrite Control is simple and intuitive to use. It offers a traditional mixer workflow and allows immediate access to internal hardware functions.

Red Plug-in Bundle Included + Softube Time and Tone Pack

Every Clarett includes the Red 2 & Red 3 Plug-in Suite, which accurately models Focusrite's classic Red range equalizer and compressor hardware. In addition to the Red 2 and Red 3 Plug-in Suite, all Saffire audio interfaces include the Softube Time and Tone Pack. This is a unique plug-in bundle, comprised of Softube's world class TSAR-1R reverb, Tube Delay, and Saturation Knob.

Full I/O Complement

18 audio inputs and 20 outputs within a 1U rack space, including eight analog inputs, 10 analog outputs, stereo SPDIF I/O and eight channels of ADAT I/O. The additional ADAT output is ideal for sending audio to an external D/A for line output expansion, while the input can be used, for example, to bring in eight additional digital mic pre channels for maximum flexibility. Word Clock output is provided, allowing the Clarett 8Pre to provide the master clock for the system.

There's never been a better, faster or easier way to get audio into or out of a DAW.

Compatible with Windows

The Clarett range is now fully compatible with Windows-based computers, offering stable, reliable operation with identical functionality on both platforms. The Windows driver offers sub-3ms latency. SHIPS JANUARY 2018!!!

The new Focusrite Red 16Line is a 64-in/64-out Pro Tools | HD and dual Thunderbolt 3 audio interface with ultra-low latency A-D/D-A conversion, Red Evolution mic preamps, up to 121dB dynamic range, ultra-low round trip latency, and expansion over Ethernet for networked audio. Since Red 16Line provides both DigiLink connectors and Thunderbolt connections, it's now easier than ever to switch from Pro Tools | HD to a second DAW, without the need to reconfigure option cards in the interface. The host mode can be simply changed either in the remote control software, or on the device front panel to change DAWs in seconds.

High-performance audio converters with over 118dB dynamic range A/D and 121dB dynamic range D/A (A-weighted) have been expertly selected and calibrated to provide the best balance of sound quality, dynamic range and conversion latency in our best-quality audio interface. Red’s ultra-low round trip latency completely transforms workflows. For those used to having to build two different mixes – one using input monitoring to overdub, the other using the DAW for playback – the good news is that now, one is enough. Mixes can be built on the DAW and used whether overdubbing (monitoring the input being recording with the Focusrite Control software mixer) or playing back, with all plug-ins in place, all the time.

Red 16Line features 16 line inputs on D-sub, coupled with 16 line outputs and two main monitor outputs. The two digitally-controlled Red Evolution mic preamps provide up to 63dB of ultra-clean gain along with stereo linking, individual phantom power, high-pass filter, phase reverse and Air mode: the name we give to the sonic signature of the classic transformer ISA preamp. With a dual-port Dante card, studios will be able to be expanded over Ethernet for more channels at higher sample rates, anywhere in the network, at lower latency and lower cost.

Featuring network and power supply redundancy, RedNet D16R is the ideal choice for providing AES3 I/O in many critical-path applications, whether in Post Production, Broadcast, Live Sound or the Recording Studio. Perfect for bridging between digital consoles, power amplifiers or any other AES3-equipped audio equipment and any Dante network, RedNet D16R has SRC (Sample Rate Conversion) on each input pair allowing plug-and-play operation with any AES3 source.

Four rear-panel DB25 connectors wired to the AES59 standard provide eight pairs of AES3 I/O, while an additional pair of XLR connectors allows flexibility in cabling choice for one pair of I/O. Additional RCA connectors allow the connection of consumer S/PDIF equipment. All external audio inputs include sample rate conversion, further reducing cabling and clocking complexity. Word Clock I/O on BNC connectors allows external devices to clock to RedNet D16R, or alternatively allows RedNet D16R to act as a network clock grand master slaved to external input. Power is supplied through a pair of locking IEC power inlets, and network connections are provided with a pair of locking Neutrik etherCON connectors; providing redundant operation or daisy-chained operation.

Focusrite RedNet D16R AES3-RedNet Bridge at a Glance:

          • Expand your RedNet network with AES3
          • Asynchronous sample rates throughout
          • Convenient remote control via the RedNet network

Expand your RedNet network with AES3

One of the biggest benefits of a RedNet system is the ability to network many different audio interfaces in different locations via a simple Ethernet cable. The RedNet D16R makes it simple to expand your RedNet system further, with up to 16 channels of digital I/O via AES3-equipped mixing consoles and audio interfaces. For example, a school could connect the AES output of a digital mixing console running sound in the theatre to the RedNet D16R, and all audio could be accessed for recording in the school's recording studios via the RedNet network.

          Asynchronous sample rates throughout

When you're dealing with dozens of channels of networked audio and the ability to easily interface with digital systems, you don't want to worry about sample rate mismatches. Thankfully, the RedNet D16R has asynchronous sample rate converters on each input pair. So even if your RedNet system is operating at 96kHz, and you're connecting via AES at 48kHz, you can expect seamless operation without having to adjust sample rates.

Convenient remote control via the RedNet network

Because you'll be using the RedNet D16R as a component of a large-scale system, Focusrite makes it easy for you to control and re-route signals via a simple software control panel. No matter where you are in your facility, if you have access to the RedNet network then you have complete control over every RedNet device connected to that network.

Focusrite RedNet D16R AES3-RedNet Bridge Features:

          • Expand your RedNet system with 16 AES3 inputs

8x8 analogue I/O with dual PSUs

RedNet A8R is a 1U, 8x8 analogue line-level I/O interface for any Dante audio-over-IP network. Featuring network and power supply redundancy, RedNet A8R is the ideal choice for providing analogue I/O in many critical-path applications, whether in Post Production, Broadcast, Live Sound or the Recording Studio.

High-quality conversion with up to 119dB of dynamic range is provided through two rear-panel DB25 connectors while an additional pair of AES3 I/O is provided through male and female XLR for added flexibility. Word Clock I/O on BNC connectors allows external devices to clock to RedNet A8R, or alternatively allows RedNet A8R to act as a network clock grand master slaved to external input. Power is supplied through a pair of locking IEC power inlets, and network connections are provided with a pair of locking Neutrik etherCON connectors; providing redundant operation or daisy-chained operation.

RedNet delivers superb audio quality over Ethernet

RedNet is ideal in any environment where pristine audio and extremely low latency over a network are required. Scalable and versatile, RedNet harnesses the simplicity of Ethernet to build audio network systems that range from a small facility with one or two recording spaces to moderate-sized facilities to large studios with multiple recording spaces and control rooms. RedNet is also great for live performance venues such as concert halls, houses of worship, or large spaces like arenas and stadiums.

Dante provides an easy way to deliver digital audio

RedNet uses the Dante protocol to connect to your studio network. Dante (Digital Audio Network Through Ethernet) transmits uncompressed, multichannel digital audio over a standard Ethernet with incredibly low latency. Using Dante is incredibly convenient. Instead of dealing with a bunch of cumbersome analog cables, you use a single Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable. Rather than running analog cable throughout a studio or concert venue, you can utilize the structure's existing Ethernet network. And your interface can be anywhere in the facility. As long as it's connected to the network, you're good to go. Patching and routing are handled by a simple software panel.

Our latest generation 6-in, 6-out USB audio interface is perfect for anybody who wants more than two analogue inputs: multi-instrumentalists, producers, recording artists, and small bands who want to record vocals, guitar and keyboards simultaneously. It gives you four analogue inputs with two Scarlett mic preamps, four analogue outputs and two separate headphone outputs, so you can give different headphone mixes to different artists, or an engineer and an artist.

Two separate headphone outputs let you give two artists (or an engineer and artist) their own headphones and monitoring settings.

You also get four balanced outputs so you can connect two sets of monitors, or send audio to an effects processor.

An unrivalled round-trip latency as low as 2.74ms* lets you do things that are simply impossible with most other USB interfaces (subject to your software, settings and computer). You can work entirely inside your DAW for both overdubbing and playback, and use your favourite plugins while recording – whether it’s reverb on a vocal, a guitar amp simulator, or even virtual instruments live on stage. You’ll also get the best out of vocal performances, by applying real-time comfort reverb to headphones.

The Focusrite second-generation Scarlett 2i4 USB audio interface gives you a superb recording front end in a portable interface. Two award-winning Focusrite mic/line/instrument preamps are onboard, with their convenient combo inputs right on the front panel where you need them, while the back panel hosts two balanced and four unbalanced outputs. The Scarlett 2i4 is an ideal foundation for your home or mobile studio if you need high quality sound, not a high channel count. Fire up the included software and start making great-sounding music today with the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB audio interface!

The 2nd-generation Focusrite Scarlett 2i4's exterior has undergone a sleek makeover. Under the hood, though, it's been tweaked and upgraded to deliver better sonics, lower latency, and enhanced ease of use. With sample rates up to 192kHz, you've got studio-grade sound you can take anywhere. And Focusrite has evened out the gain structure of the natural-sounding Scarlett mic preamps, letting you set levels more accurately. The instrument inputs have also been re-engineered to handle the hottest active pickups. Lastly, Focusrite has wired analog protection circuitry across the Scarlett 2i4's inputs and outputs, safeguarding your interface from damaging power surges.

You know you perform better when you've got a great-sounding monitor mix with everything you need to hear to be inspired — for example, reverb and delay on a guitar solo. The Scarlett 2i4's super-low latency lets you monitor with native plug-in effects in real time, so you can hear your parts as you envision them and record better performances. At Sweetwater, we know you can't put a price on that.

Our latest generation 18-in, 8-out USB interface is ideal for multi-instrumentalists, producers and small bands who want to record audio from a wide range of sources such as drums, guitars, keyboards and vocals. It's our most comprehensive desktop interface, giving you four mic preamps, round-trip latency as low as 2.74ms*, class-leading sound quality, and two separate headphone outputs, so you can give different monitoring settings to two artists, or an engineer and artist. It's also expandable over ADAT.

Don’t be limited by your interface’s connectivity. 18 separate inputs let you connect just about anything you want, and leave your instruments permanently set up and ready to record.

The four combination inputs on the front each have a natural-sounding Scarlett mic preamp, 48V phantom power and superior linear gain. Backed by 30 years of design experience, they guarantee low noise, minimal distortion and a dynamic range that is unrivalled in this class.

On the back are four more line inputs for connecting your synths, keyboards or mixers, and two additional S/PDIF inputs for recording digital sources. For even more inputs, connect an eight-channel mic pre like the Scarlett OctoPre, for a total of 16 analogue inputs with 12 preamps.

As well as two balanced analogue line outputs for connecting professional speakers, Scarlett 18i8 gives you two independent stereo headphone outputs, so you can give two artists (or an engineer and artist) their own cans and monitoring settings.

Our latest generation 18-in, 20-out USB audio interface can handle just about anything your band or studio can throw at it. Beautiful and rack mountable, it gives you loads of I/O, pristine sound quality, separate stereo headphone mixes, extensive expansion options and round-trip latency as low as 2.74ms*, all in a 1U space.

Scarlett 18i20 puts eight natural-sounding combination inputs at your disposal. We put two on the front, where you need them most, with newly designed instrument inputs that can handle even the hottest signals. We put six more on the back, so you can leave your mics, synths, keyboards, mixers and effects processors permanently plugged in and ready to go.

If that isn’t enough for you, connect an eight-channel mic pre like the Scarlett OctoPre to the ADAT input for a total of 16 analogue inputs. Add the two channels of digital audio via S/PDIF and 16 channels of MIDI, and you can record just about anything you want.

All eight analogue inputs feature pristine and natural sounding Scarlett preamps, backed by 30 years of design experience and found in the world’s top studios. These guarantee exceptional headroom, plenty of clean gain, low noise, minimal distortion and a dynamic range that is unrivalled in this class.

As well as eight balanced analogue line outputs, Scarlett 18i20 gives you two independent stereo headphone outputs so you can give engineer and artist their own separate, fully-customised mixes.

Excellent sound is the quality Clarett owners love most. With up to 119dB dynamic range, superbly low noise, precision 24/192 conversion and eight specially-designed mic preamps with a unique analogue “Air” effect, Clarett 8Pre is the Thunderbolt audio interface that simply sounds great, easily out-performing others in its class and beyond. Meanwhile, its astonishing 1.67ms round-trip latency* simplifies your workflow and lets you use your favourite plug-ins in real time.

The mic pres have been designed specifically for the Clarett range, with plenty of gain, yet low noise and distortion. In addition, they include a special “Air” feature that switches in an analogue model of the classic transformer-based Focusrite ISA mic pre. The Instrument inputs also feature extra headroom to handle the loudest pickup. It’s the Focusrite Sound over Thunderbolt.

Clarett features Focusrite’s class-leading 24/192 conversion: with up to 119dB dynamic range, Clarett offers the cleanest way yet to get music in and out of your DAW over Thunderbolt.

The Clarett range is acclaimed for its sound quality. It's due partly to Clarett's specially-designed mic pres with the unique "Air" effect, adding air and clarity especially to vocals and acoustic instruments. Plus Focusrite's precision digital conversion, carefully balancing noise floor, dynamic range, frequency response and distortion for the best possible sound to and from your DAW.
